A Conversation over Coffee - Session One

This morning’s "Conversation over Coffee" session was to cover the topic area of Laptop Components, Peripherals and Networks to correspond to this weeks On-Line training lesson. However, the meeting was spent doing a walk-through for those who were unable to attend the Kick-Off & the Makeup sessions due to scheduling and technical issues. Though we were unable to cover the topic, I do believe that the session WAS helpful to those individuals who were unfamiliar with Skillport.

During the session several people reached out to offer assistance to each other with getting into the session, Skillport log-ins and also to offer some advice about the examination. I was encouraged by these individuals to continue to promote this the Blogger Website as a resource to air concerns and ALSO to offer assistance to others.

In an effort to help you grow your library of on-line resources, I would like to offer the following website suggestions to you:

CompTIA A+ Certification - If you have not been to this site yet... go!

TechNET - A great source for anything Windows related.

Computer Hope - Another good site with many definitions and it has many operating system resources.

Wikipedia - This is increasingly becoming a great resource for all exams. It is good for quick definitions, standards, tables and charts, and images.

PC Guide - The site is a bit outdated now, but has some good hardware architecture resources.

How Stuff Works - Several excellent demos that help students.
